UK family concerned about the major outbreak of illness at a hotel in Sarigerme in Turkey and the significant changes it presents to their holiday!

I have booked a holiday for 9 of my family to go on holiday May20th 2010 to the Sarigerme [NAME OF HOTEL]. I have paid £450 low deposit .The outstanding deposit is £720 to be paid by 1st October 2009.
Obviously I am very concerned at taking my family there after reading reviews on illness experienced by many families. I have phoned the [NAME OF TOUR OPERATOR] shop where I booked the holiday to ask if I could have a refund or change to a different hotel. I was told that if I changed it would cost £35 each person. This under the circumstances seemed unacceptable. Have you any advice please? Do you know if I have any rights as it seems to me that [NAME OF HOTEL] should not be sending people there.. Also I was recommended this resort by the [NAME OF HOTEL] person ! I feel she should have told us before booking the holiday. I booked on 29th June 2009.
