UK tour operator failing to provide full significant change rights to UK holidaymaker - they are concerned by the reports of illness coming out of the hotel in Sarigerme in Turkey

I have booked a holiday departing October 1st to the [NAME OF HOTEL] Turkey with [NAME OF TOUR OPERATOR] and have seen an increasing number of bad reviews – such as sickness from salmonella. I have called [NAME OF TOUR OPERATOR] today and they were not very helpful. They are very much aware of the problem and have been told if I want to change hotels it would cost £50pp. They also said the reviews online have been blown out of proportion and it is not serious enough to change hotel for free or actually close the [NAME OF HOTEL] hotel. If the problem worsens they will contact me. I would very much appreciate your help on this situation or any advise you can offer me.
