Aerotoxic

We’re fuming!

Following EC Regulation 261/2004, which provides consumer protection for flight delay, denied boarding and flight cancellation, we’ve seen an increase in complaints against airlines. At the same time we have also witnessed the growing phenomenon of Aerotoxic or Sick Aircraft Syndrome, with passengers and crew being adversely affected by the aerotoxic effects of fumes on board aircraft. The lobby for action on Cabin Air Quality is growing daily, despite effective aviation, scientific and government opposition. This is an international scandal and the notion put forward by opponents that passengers and crew are simply suffering from the effects of hyperventilation puzzles us! The pyrolised products from oil that escape from the jet engine into the aircraft cabin can contaminate the air causing serious neurotoxic health problems. We say if airlines don't take the neccessary action to produce clean air on-board then they should suffer "blacklisting" under EU Regulation 2111/2005. Passengers should also benefit from the wide ranging powers of the EU Commission to engage and direct Member States on serious issues or breaches of airline or aircraft safety. EU airline passengers deserve nothing less.

If you have been affected by fumes, food poisoning or other illness, injury, assault or other issue while onboard your holiday airline, please contact us for advice.
